Role Overview

As the Engineering Manager for Frontend at Veel, you will lead the development of high-quality, scalable, and user-centric web experiences. This is a high-impact role focused on driving frontend architecture, fostering a strong engineering culture, and delivering seamless user interfaces. You’ll work cross-functionally to align frontend strategy with product goals, while mentoring a growing team to excel in performance, accessibility, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead frontend architecture and development using React (Next.js) and Typescript
• Own UI performance, accessibility and responsibility across devices
• Drive scalable frontend architecture with BFF, SSR, caching and CDN strategies
• Strong hands-on experience in video streaming display and user-friendliness
• Ensure robust APM (Application Performance Management) and observability
• Ensure frontend testing discipline via unit test, visual test and E2E testing
• Enforce version control discipline and CI/CD integration
• Strong follower of best-practices, with strong focus on technical excellence, security and cost
• Strong analytical skills and strong decisions with outcome oriented mindset (not just output)

• Provide strong technical leadership by setting clear direction, ensuring engineering best practices, and enabling your team to solve complex problems with confidence
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and maintain detailed documentation to ensure alignment, transparency, and knowledge sharing
• Foster a culture of empowerment, ownership, and accountability where engineers feel trusted, motivated, and responsible for delivering high-impact outcomes
• Support and grow your team by actively engaging in mentorship, delivering personalized training, and offering coaching to help each member reach their full potential
• Define, track, and continuously improve QA metrics and dashboards to measure quality, highlight areas of improvement, and drive data-informed decisions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Backend, Mobile Lead, AI/ML Lead, Design, Sales & Marketing teams to align engineering quality with product vision and customer needs
• Stay ahead of the curve by continuously exploring new tools, technologies, and processes and by contributing directly to hands-on research, testing, and coding where needed
• Contribute to  cultivate and maintain an A+ product-driven engineering culture at Veel, grounded in innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and a relentless focus on delivering value to users

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
• Highly motivated, curious, and driven to take ownership and lead initiatives
• Strategic mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Deep understanding of business objectives, customer needs, and evolving market trends
